My new design

I’m very proud to announce that I have created a new pad shape and I have just put it to the test on my heavy bloody day….. It’s a 2-3 piece pattern, not my favorite to make but my current favorite to look at cause it’s quite cute. It reminds me of a little angle 🙂 now these are only 10″. I have actually made couple of 8″ liners with the same design a while back but let’s just now show those pics cause I tried to do fake serge look and I didn’t like it. Anyhow, here are how they look and I’m going to make some overnight ones to try… Hopefully for my next period. I’m also going to start offering this pad for purchase…. Very soon.

A little about me

For those of you who do not know me in person, here is a little something about me. My name is Loretta , I am a working mother, wife, daughter, sister, chef, seamstress, nerd, etc. During the day I have an office job, doing office/accounting work. Outside of work, I am a chick with many hobbies and interest, painting, cooking, sewing, gardening, fishing, etc. I am also known as TheDIYchick (so I called myself) on my blog (http://khaleesib.wordpress.com). I started sewing in 2012 when my husband and brother in law got me into cosplay. I have made several costumes, props and couple of costume commissions for others. Those who know me, I am known as the Baroness, Female Punisher and Madam Hydra – I am like a nerdy villain. I stopped going to cosplay conventions when I got pregnant and retired from the spandex wearing villain job and had turned my time into painting. Recently I discovered reusable pads from etsy when I was really looking for nerdy diaper bag for my son. That got me to unbox my sewing machine, pull out my fabrics and started sewing again and it has turned into my new addiction. On top of pads I also made baby blankets, bibs, swaddles and other cloth products. However for cloth pads, it is just like shoes and purses, we all want variety, different colors, different prints for different occasions.. and yes I know nobody really see them but myself. I bought TONS of fabrics and I definitely do not need THAT many pads for myself BUT I like sewing them. So I created this group, to share with you ladies. I will post ready to ship pads on my facebook group at  https://www.facebook.com/groups/Rumpboxgroup

first before they hit etsy to give you all first dip if you find something you like. I am also opened for custom orders and will work with whatever pattern you like. However please know that I do have a full time job and I only have time to sew after my king (my son) hit the hay. I may not have stocking as often as other shops, but do know that I am always open to custom orders and will not deliver you something I will not buy for myself (and yes I am very very picky). I also created this blog which I update my sewing projects of all period related stuff periodically.

Thank you very much for your time. Now you know a little bit about me

Starter set

Long story short, I have put together a starter set (5piece set) as shown in the pic. It is a good start for new cloth user and although it is cheaper to get a set, it will be all of the same print. I am pretty much buying fat quarters doe this. I will be offering my usual assymetrical pattern wih curved ends as well. In the pic there is 1 13″ overnight, 2 10″ moderates, 2 light/liners. What do you all think? If you are interested, look for Rumpbox closed group on Facebook and check out the fabric prints available for starter set.

And definitely message me for pricing. Right now only 13″ comes with hidden PUL but PUL can be added to moderates as well for a small up charge.
Enjoy your period!

New pad shape

So I have been participating in a pad swap group and I have created a new pad shape , trying this out with my swap partner. I’m also going to try offering this shape in starter sets. I do like this shape, sewing is a little bit faster since there’s no curve and less prone to mistake. However I have got mixed reviews on the shape, some people like it some people like the curves… I’m only thinking this may work on sets because the starter set will be slightly cheaper and therefore I must make them faster not to discount the stitching work on it at all.

What do you all think? The above pads are 12″ moderates that I made for the swap. First time using this new pattern. I like them but again…. I like almost anything I made by myself lol.

Geeky nerdy pad is my thing

Finally took pictures of most of my fabric stash and posted on my Facebook group. Someone wanted two 13″ moderate pads made and I must say I love these. I should really make something for myself with some of my nerdy geeky fabrics…. But I already have so many pads…. I feel like this pad thing is like shoes. You must have many and still feel that it’s not enough lol

The fox pad

I had made several straight flare pattern pads with this fabric and then it was buried in my pile of fabrics. Did some organizing and pulled this fabric out. I forgot how cute it was. Thru my Facebook group someone wanted a 12″ heavy made from this fabric so there we go. My 12″ assymetrical flare pattern. Stitching is way better than the ones I made out of this print before, my sewing will only get better from here and thanks to the support of cloth pad lovers who helped to keep me busy and my skill improving.

Removable core cloth pads

I might be onto something here. After meeting up with my dear childhood friends when I was in China for my sister’s wedding. I was very happy that one of my childhood friend shown interest in cloth pads. The problem is in Macao China, the washer and dryer are combined and the drying option only dried up to 80%. So she needs to hang them up anyway. To make her a stash and ship it all the way there, I’m thinking what is the best way and least amount of washing and pad carrying? I think maybe removable core. I drew up a 9″ slight flare assymetrical patter and a 11″ pattern of the same shape for night time. Then went fabric hunting….. Not that I don’t have enough, but I just have to check out walmart’s session. Came home with some cute fat quarters ! First try I made Minky top, which I messed up big time while turning and top stitching so that is not going to China. I made another set with cotton top. Woohoo! Hello good looking!

  Edit
I was so happy that I got all that made with just one fat quarter! Well I used zorb core and flannel back for all the cores and you know lots of snaps. But hey I would say it’s pretty good looking. Now I’m thinking to make 2 11″ shells (one for me and one for her) and 4 cores (2 for me and 2 for her). Then the rest of her kit will be several more hidden core moderate and heavy. If I have time I may make some liners. But what do you guys think? Is there actual demand for this top of pads?

Feel free to comment and if you are reading this because you wanted it made. Contact me, I can do custome orders 🙂 I have lots of prints to make you happy!
